Project Earth is the Edina High School's environmental club. We meet weekly to work on our current projects. Each project's goal is to take action on environmental issues in our community while learning and educating others about how to be an active part of the solution. Our current projects include installing solar panels at the High School, improving our cafeteria's waste sorting system, as well as creating an overall plan for our school to be more sustainable.
We are hosting our annual Youth Climate Summit on April 25th from 11:00-2:30 PM at Edina High School in the Fick auditorium and adjacent common area. This will be a fun and educational, walk-in event during which you’ll be able to learn about the greatest problem that we’re facing as a society, climate change, and see how you can be an active part of the solution in your everyday life.
Our event will start out at 11:00 with an hour long panel with experts and leaders from the where we will discuss different aspects of climate change, including health, climate policy, and sustainable development. The panelist will be made up by Daniel Griffin from the University of Minnesota, Dr. Bruce Snyder from Healthy Professionals for a Healthy Climate, Minnesota representative Heather Edelson, and Edina’s superintendent Dr. Shultz.
Following this, we will have tables set up in the commons area with student led activities on how people can begin to take action in their daily lives. During this time you will also be able to enjoy food from Bread smith, Agra culture, Ginger hop and other great places! Throughout the entire event we will be hosting several kid friendly activities so we encourage you to bring everyone in your family along!
We hope to see you all there!
